Our Story

Welcome to ILO Clothing, where my passion for creating joyful, sustainable fashion for children comes to life. I'm Violeta Llano, and ILO Clothing is my heart and soul, born from a love for organic, comfortable, and fun clothing that every child deserves.

Violeta

Founder

Living in Bristol in 2017, I found myself navigating a new chapter of motherhood with my children, who were 5 and 1 at the time. My first child thrived in hand-me-downs, but by the time my second came along, we had missed the hand-me-down boat. I had an overwhelming urge to dress my youngest in the best organic, comfiest, and most playful clothes available. When I couldn't find what I was looking for, I decided to make my own. What started as a personal project quickly turned into something more as friends began asking for my creations. And just like that, ILO Clothing was born.

The name "ILO," pronounced ee-loh, means 'joy' in Finnish. My husband had studied Finnish for a while, and we fell in love with the sound and meaning of the word. It perfectly encapsulated what I wanted for the brand – a celebration of the joy of childhood, inspired by the Scandinavian way of life, which
emphasises simplicity, sustainability, and happiness.

Sustainability is at the core of everything I do at ILO Clothing. I'm always thinking of new ways to reduce our carbon footprint and minimise production waste. Every piece of clothing is crafted with love and care, using organic materials that are as gentle on the planet as they are on your child's skin.

Chloe

Project Manager

I joined ILO in 2024 as Project Manager, working towards achieving B Corp certification for the brand. My background has been varied, from working as a PA to Directors to managing festival stalls to family portrait photography. I am passionate about sustainability and really believe each brand should be as kind to the environment as possible. I loved dressing my children in ILO Clothing long before I joined the company, with my son wearing a gorgeous ILO romper for many months. I have always enjoyed crafting as a hobby, from knitting baby blankets to upcycling old curtains into beautiful frocks for my daughter.

Laura

Production Manager

I am a textiles graduate, with experience in costume design and making, tailoring, repairs and making at ILO. Sewing is what I love, as well as cycling and bouldering.
